Located just a 9-minute walk from your residency, the Castle Square offers a vibrant, historic atmosphere. It is the perfect spot for an atmospheric morning coffee or a "meze" within the stone walls of a fortress that has been inhabited for over a thousand years. While you eat, you are surrounded by the Ottoman Baths and the ancient stones of a living neighborhood.

The heart of the island's pulse is our central harbor. The waterfrontβor ProkΟ maiaβis lined with a variety of cafes, bars, and ouzeris where you can enjoy the Aegean breeze. It is the most lively part of town, ideal for watching the ships come in while sampling a mastic-infused cocktail or traditional appetizers.

A hidden gem just north of town, this is a tiny, quiet fishing harbor. It is known for its romantic atmosphere and an excellent fish taverna right on the water. It is also located near the iconic chapel of Agios Isidoros, making it a perfect stop after a late-afternoon swim.

Lagkada is the quintessential maritime village, where the pine forest meets the sea. The harbor is lined with traditional tavernas that are the "go-to" spot for the day's freshest catch. From your table, you can enjoy views of the Oinousses islands while sampling locally distilled Souma.

A picturesque seaside village in the southeast, Kataraktis offers an authentic experience with its small harbor and rows of fish tavernas. It is where the locals go for genuine seafood meze and a slow afternoon by the sea.Β

Tucked in the mountains of the north, Pityos is a village of shepherds and deep history, often linked to the travels of Homer. The "Makelos" taverna is a personal favorite, serving legendary "cherisia" (handmade) pasta and kopanistopitakia (pies with local spicy cheese). This is the taste of the rugged side of Chios.

Right next to the world-famous black pebbles of Mavra Volia, the harbor of Emporios is a serene spot for dining. After exploring the archaeological site on the hill, you can enjoy a meal with a view of the southern coastline.

If you prefer a cosmopolitan vibe, Komi is the place to be. The central pedestrian walk is filled with beach bars and restaurants serving everything from fresh fish to creative Greek cuisine right on the sand.

Lithi is famous for its shallow sandy bottom and its sailors, who are renowned for catching the islandβs best lobsters. I highly recommend staying for the sunset; there is nothing like enjoying fresh fish as the sun dips below the Aegean horizon.

In the north, near the historic village of Volissos, Limnos offers deep blue waters and traditional tavernas. It is a spot of minimalist calm where the food reflects the wilder, authentic spirit of the northern villages.

In the south, the village square is the center of life. In Pyrgi, you eat amidst the intricate "xysta" patterns; in Armolia, you can see the local potters at work; and in Olympoi, you sit under the vaulted stone arches. These squares are the best places to sample local ouzo meze and feel the medieval history of the Mastic villages.
