Welcome back to the minimalist calm of your residency at Kalvokoresi 16. After exploring our medieval stones and sun-drenched shores, I want to take you deeper—into the silent world beneath our waves and the ancient, healing breath of the island itself. When I designed our apartments, I was inspired by the concept of "minimalist wellness," creating a space that lifts the spirit through clean design and absolute silence. Chios offers this same restorative energy in its "hidden gem" caves and therapeutic waters.
Here is my personal curation of the island's most profound natural sanctuaries.

Many are surprised to learn that Chios is ranked among the ten best spots for diving in Europe. Our waters are legendary for their exceptional clarity and the vibrant life that thrives among colorful reefs and mysterious underwater caves. Whether you are a beginner taking a "Discover Scuba" lesson or an expert exploring historic shipwrecks, the weightless silence of the Aegean is the ultimate escape from the modern world.

If you prefer to stay on the surface but still crave a connection to the deep, I recommend kayaking through the rugged southern bays. In coves like Apothika and Agia Dynami, the water is so transparent that you feel as if you are floating on air. Paddling under the shadow of medieval watchtowers (vigles) that guard the coast offers a unique sense of history and absolute quiet.

Located near the medieval village of Olympoi, this cave is a geological masterpiece. As you descend 52 meters into the earth, you are greeted by an impressive stalactitic and stalagmitic decor that has been growing for millions of years. The temperature remains a constant 18°C, providing a cool, atmospheric sanctuary where the only sound is the rhythmic drip of water.

In the far northwest, the village of Agio Gala is literally built upon a system of caves. This site has been a place of worship since the Neolithic era (6,000 BC), and inside you will find the unique chapel of Panagia Agiogalousaina integrated into the rock. The cave takes its name from the milky-white calcium water that drips from the ceiling—a sight that feels both mystical and ancient.

For true rejuvenation, you must travel to Agiasmata in Northern Chios. Here, thermal springs gush at a temperature of 57.5°C, rich in minerals like Manganese and Lithium. The local hydrotherapy center is a place of healing and revitalization, known for treating everything from joint fatigue to skin health. I highly recommend the "inhalation therapy" provided by the natural sea spray created as the northern winds crash against the shore.

While not a "spa" in the traditional sense, the cold mountain springs that flow directly into the sea at Nagos offer a different kind of wellness. The contrast between the fresh spring water and the salt sea is incredibly invigorating for the body. Surrounded by lush greenery that reaches the shore, it is a place where you can breathe deeply and reconnect with nature.
Natural wellness on Chios is about more than just a treatment; it is about the serenity of space and the restorative power of the elements. After a day of exploring these submerged secrets or soaking in our thermal springs, my greatest wish is for you to return to the unrivaled comfort of your suite.
